Abstract
This paper studies the phenomenon of phonological substitution in a mumber of the books of times, places, and atmosphere published up to the end of the sixth century AH. The paper selected six books for analysis: Qatrab's al-Azmina Wa Talbia Al-Jahiliah (dec. 206), Al-Fara's Days, Nights, and Months (dec. 207), Abi Omer Al-Zahid's A Day and night in Language and Ireegularity (dec. 345), Al-Marzuki's Times and Places (dec. 421), Abi Obaid Al-Bakri's A Glossary of the Foreign Words (dec. 487), and Al-Zamachshary's Mountains, Places, and Water (dec. 539).
