Abstract
This paper studies Miller's play The Crucible as a representation of a new character type which is the non-comformist hero. It is not about a particular issue in a particular society, but it is about a universal issue which is non –conformist attitude in dealing with the external pressures practised on the individuals. It raises impotrtant questions such as: how should man deal with the attempts to make him conform to the commonly accepted values of his society .
