This paper is part of my MA. Thesis entitled "syntactic reasoning in Ibn Ghawas' Explanation of Alfiyah Ibn Maut." This book is significant for its many syntactic reasoning and in spite of its importance it is not well known to the scholars and students of Arabic grammar. This paper studies syntactic reasoning of indeclinable verbs in Alfiyah Ibn Maut. It falls into three sections: past tense verb, imperative verb, and present tense verb connected to one of the two emphatic light and dark (noon). In each section the paper lists the syntactic reasoning of Arab grammarians, Ibn Maut's reply to them, and his agreement and disagreement with them.
Effect of Similarity Analogy of the Participle

Analogy is the basis of Grammatical reasoning because analogy is logical in any discipline. Analogy in grammar has several accepted and unaccepted aspects among Arab grammarians. Similarity is one accepted aspect of analogy. It occurs by comparing two similar things to show their similarities. Analogy is used in Arabic verbs. One category of verbs is called the participle verb because it is parsed for its similarity to nouns in syntactic behavior. This verb is like nouns as it can be categorized, accepts starting (Lam), and has the same movements of the participle. This verb is raised as it can substitute the raised noun. While its emphatic or constructed form is still controversial as some view it as derivational while others view it as non-derivational. As noun is drawn the participle verb is emphatic. tHe derivation of this verb occurs through the feminine (Noon) as in derivational compound numbers and this is an aspect in analogy.

Adverts are an artful deviation in the form taken by a statement. As a genre, adverts enjoy special distinctive features that manipulation of meaning is one of them. Semantics is the wider scope in which deviations are employed on the benefit of text's persuasiveness. A framework is developed for classifying types of meaning exploited in adverts textuality. The model adopted is Leech's (1974) classification of types of meaning. The paper focuses on how conceptual meaning and associative meanings are employed to get a unique, economic, effective, and persuasive advertising text. It is hypothesized that advertisers functionally employ associative meanings to modulate ideas, services, and objects promoted, and manipulate advertisees' attitudes on the benefit of the advertising campaign. Different advertising examples are considered to be analyzed semantically with reference to their psychological persuasive effect on each type of meaning.
Interactive Aspects of Misunderstanding in Net Chatting

A misunderstanding could be defined as a failure to understand something due to the difference in opinions between two interlocutors. There is almost an intrinsic relationship between language comprehension and misunderstanding in which the message is implicitly decoded. However, language comprehension is not simply cognitive according to the fact that there is some interference between emotive acts and comprehension. Understanding the radiant nature of reality gives us insight into the nature of misunderstanding, and consequently, helps us to avoid many of the emotional and logical problems that may weaken our communication. Sender's choice of the certain stimulus increases or reduces or even makes it impossible to access the intended interpretation as there are different presuppositions.
Applying an eclectic model in net chatting is the prime aim of this study. In addition, it aims at examining the reasons behind misunderstanding whether being pragmatic, cultural, or psycholinguistic one and to what extent social variables and psycholinguistic process have an impact on them.
Floutings in George Bernard Shaw's Play Saint Joan

The present paper studies the communicative function of language and the basic properties of the meaning that is conveyed through language. The paper is based upon the Theory of Implicature of Grice and its cooperative principle in pragmatics which has great importance in modern studies in linguistics. The cooperative principle contains four major maxims, namely: maxims of quality, quantity, relation, and manner. These try to identify that utterance meaning would not be accomplished if it would not take in consideration the speaker's intentions ( Lyons 2002:5). The chief objective of this paper is to exhibit that the four Gricean maxims are not very reliable basis but they may be easily abandoned or flouted on several occasions. G.B.Shaw's play Saint Joan is taken as an example to show how flouting of Gricean maxims is applicable in this play. Characters throughout the play are consistently flouting these maxims. Flouting is used for comic purposes or sarcasm by Shaw in an attempt to show that the Catholic Church has committed unjust decisions concerning the burning of the innocent Joan de Arc who was canonized 25 years after she was charged with excommunication .
